Consequence of Sound Picks Your New Obsession: Look Mexico
Posted by anthoNYC on November 11, 2009
Last month Quiet Color upped the bar for our Guest Bloggers by selecting Sleigh Bells as Your New Obsession. Sleigh Bells went on to be one of the most buzzed about bands at CMJ and in the blogosphere! This month we tapped Michael from the fantastic New York and Chicago-based blog Consequence of Sound.
Michael selected the Florida rock band Look Mexico as your new obsession for the month of November, what do you guys think? If you like what you hear make sure you check out Look Mexico on iTunes!
Name: Michael Roffman
Blog: Consequence of Sound
Consequence of Sound’s favorite artist: Look Mexico
Where they’re from: Tallahassee, FL
Sounds like: Their early material pegged them as an American Football/Minus the Bear send off, but lately (especially with their current solid lineup) they’ve evolved into something more exclusive, something more genuine. With every ambient climb and each static guitar part, they manage to trademark that feeling of spending time by the bonfire with friends or drinking at 3am with someone revelatory — yeah, it’s pretty epic stuff.
Why we should be obsessed: Because they’re about to release the most important album of their career.
Choice tracks: You’re Not Afraid of the Dark, Are You? and A Survivor’s Code. My Code. off of their Gast Asp EP and probably every track off their new record this fall.
MP3: Look Mexico – You’re Not Afraid of the Dark, Are You? or zShare
