Plan B Gets a New Soul
Posted by Jess. D on November 10, 2009

Remember Plan B? The hyper social-realistic British rapper made a splash almost 3 years ago with his debut Who Needs Actions When You Got Words, but was overshadowed by the genius/celebrity juggernaut of his 679 labelmate, The Streets. Ben Drew, meanwhile, is no slouch and is really nothing like Mike Skinner at all. He sufficiently succeeds in widening that gap even further by moving away from his unconventional rapping-over-acoustic guitar formula to a retro soul approach.
Hence his latest track, Stay Too Long which sees Ben collaborating once again with super producer Paul Epworth (Bloc Party, Jack Penate, Florence & the Machine et al). The track was selected by our hero Zane Lowe as on of his hottest records in the world last week proving Plan B’s new material is sure to be a welcome staple on UK radio and hot topic in the blogosphere.
You can stream Stay Too Long on Plan B’s MySpace.
