Ladyhawke’s NYC Debut + HeartsRevolution: Bowery is Burning
Posted by anthoNYC on March 25, 2009

Ladyhawke at Bowery Ballroom, 3.25.09
Last night marked Ladyhawke’s first show in New York (surprisingly), which was almost derailed by a fire nearby on Bowery that filled the venue up with smoke.
Before the incident, New York reformed electro-punk band HeartsRevolution took the stage to rev up the crowd with their high energy set. I fell in love with Lo’s black studded mic and loudspeaker. They were a great prelude to Ladyhawke, everyone was banging their heads along until realizing that the air conditioning was turned off…

HEARTSREVOLUTION at Bowery Ballroom, 3.25.09
Ladyhawke also known as Phillipa “Pip” Brown, took the stage shortly after 11 due to delay caused by a nearby fire. She modestly thanked everyone for being patient, she was even unsure the show was going to go on.
Once the smoke dissipated and the air conditioners got kicked back on, Pip powered through the hour long set beginning with Profesional Suicide and closing with one of my favorites My Delirium. Although quite demure in her stage presence and interaction with the audience, Pip delivered a short but sweet set that satisfied my retro-pop cravings. A double win for last night’s bill!
Catch Ladyhawke and HeartsRevolution again tomorrow night at Studio B if you missed out or if you just want a second helping!
