Hot Chip madness in Williamsburg
Posted by Tastes Like Caramel on April 11, 2008
The Hot Chip show at Music Hall of Williamsburg Tuesday night was crazy awesome. I absolutely love the way they remix and rearrange all the songs live…they’re all recognizable as the same Hizzotness tunes you bust moves to around your room late at night, but with different twists and jams that really show off each member’s musical talents. The crowd went pretty mental and the band’s enthusiasm was infectious. Alexis & co. looked like they were truly having a blast on stage and enjoying performing together, laughing and dancing as they played. Highlights included Hold On, Wrestlers, and No Fit State.
Ready For The Floor definitely elicited some warm and tingly memories for me.
Watch my live footage of the song:
Matthew Dear (his vocal stylings remind me of Let’s Dance era Bowie) played an indie-electro fueled opening set. Was fun to watch, especially when some of the Hot Chippers came out and joined him on a song.
Bao Nguyen took some amazing shots of the show which you can view on Brooklyn Vegan’s Hot Chip post.
Hot Chip have announced One Pure Thought is to be their next single. The video premiered this week. It’s a clever little animated number.
One Pure Thought
ALSO: if you like Hot Chip, have a listen to their good friends, Grovesnor. We watched them play a set at Durr a while back….was relatively uncomfortable mostly due to the fact it was freezing cold out and no one showed up to that Monday’s party. Anyway, they’re a fun group of guys and Nightmoves is a hot song, and they’re playing London’s newly re-opened Proud Galleries in May.
